Matthew Ball Editorial Design

Bio

So far Matthew has notched up 17 years' experience working as an art director in Europe and the USA.

 

He started off at Oxford Brookes University and Manchester Metropolitan studying cartography, computer science and graphic design.

 

He then spent four years working as a cartographer, before joining Emap in 1996, where he worked on Garden Answers and later Bike magazine. Next came his first experience of running a design department as Art Editor of Fore! and Golf World.

 

In 2000. Matthew moved to New York and worked on Popular Science, published by Time Inc. His next move was as Senior Associate Art Director on Rolling Stone. In March 2004, he returned to the UK to take up the role of Deputy Design Editor at The Scotsman newspaper in Edinburgh.

 

In March 2005 Matthew launched his own design consultancy based in London and Edinburgh. He specialises in editorial design, magazine production, web design, and training.
